West Nile Virus

We can help prevent the population of Culex Tarsalis Mosquitoes by reducing standing water which is most beneficial from June until September. This can be done by:
  • Cleaning & emptying eavestroughs, bird baths and other items that might collect water;
  • Ensuring rain barrels are covered with mosquito screening or are tightly sealed around the downspout; and
  • Clearing yards of old tires or other debris that collect water.
More information about West Nile virus is available on the Manitoba Health website at http://www.gov.mb.ca/health/wnv

The LUD of Elkhorn and R.M. of Wallace-Woodworth help to prevent the spread of West Nile virus by larvaciding around the Village boundaries.
