  • Municipality of Grassland
  • Municipality of Souris-Glenwood

  • Rural Municipality of Pipestone
  • Rural Municipality of Sifton
  • Rural Municipality of Wallace-Woodworth

The Souris River Watershed District envisions a healthy, sustainable and diverse landscape capable of providing economic, social and environmental benefits for current and future generations. The district works to achieve this vision through progressive, community driven efforts dedicated to raising awareness about sustainable land and water stewardship practices and providing incentives for conservation programming. Programming is directly tied to the unique priorities of the West Souris River and East Souris River integrated watershed management plans.

Programs offered by the watershed district to enhance water management in the district include abandoned well sealing, well water testing, small water storage projects, alternative watering systems, rain gardens, wetland restoration, and riparian fencing. Grassed waterways and streambank stabilization, forage seeding, shelterbelt plantings and salinity soil testing are program offered to protect soils in the district. The Souris River Watershed District also conserves habitat for wildlife through Species at Risk partnerships on Agricultural Lands and Conservation Agreement partnership programs. The district also collaborates with the Burrowing Owl Recovery program to provide habitat for the endangered Burrowing Owl.

The Souris River Watershed District operates from two offices located in Reston and Deloraine.
